Ok ,we got it to open and close!!!!! It recognizes the disc, reads it, plays it and ejects. I think it was a loose ribbon connection. Larry as soon as I clean it up and remount the PCB and test it , it will be on the way. The standoffs were gone from the main board and just floating around in the chassis. A beautiful Cd player and I believe the remote works on this one. The remotes are all aluminum and built like the rest of this stuff-----VERY WELL>

I've heard of some upgrades for these, does anybody know to what and what it entailed???

All Elna Silmic Caps on the board except PS filter caps.

Larry, this is a VERY nice unit. Should pair up with Your fancy Shanling just fine. Must have a better DAC, sampling rate or something, much better definition than the 5. The Hi hat on a drum or a snare are very lifelike, vocals sound like the guy is sitting right in front of you, with nothing in between. Ah.............the pursuit of Audio Nirvana has such twists and turns my friends..............

Larry's tubed Shanling looks the part of an esoteric CDP. It's nice to see you got her going, Lee.

Thanks Nando, purely accidental on my part. wasn't getting voltage to the open/close motor. Clipped the fluke to it, pushed and pulled on some harnesses, and suddenly we have tray coming out.

Lee

You probably are starting to hate me. LOL Ever since we met you are spending more money. LOL Ah Nirvana it is an illusive character isn't it? Once you think you are close another step is put in your path. LOL Will it ever be achieved? In my world I get very close then I learn something new. LOL I get very comfortable with my systems for a long period of time and am satisfied. With the Creek I have done 2 things. Added a DVD player and changed speaker wires. So I guess with it I am most satisfied. The tube rack? Components go in and out of it like a revolving door. Not even going to bring up the PL/Carver rack.

You remember our deal. The choice is yours.

If I can get another MBL running I'd take one, the ones I can't fix, I've contacted Doc, he'll take up the slack there. But I see at least 3 more I think I can fix.
