Onix and OPPO

Was told today thatn Oppo was started by 3 renegade engineers from Onix. Seems as Onix got popular the bean counters swooped in and started to cheapen the builds, these 3 said NAY!! Put there money where their mouth was and Voila'---Oppo.

When was this?

Oppo was one of the original companies to release a CD player when they were introduced nearly 32 years ago and they had been knee-deep in the prototyping process with the industry.

It was my undersatanding that they were somehow connected to SANYO.

Older Onix were rebadged Shanlings or MBLs which ever you prefer. I had one of the 1st CDPs that you had to lock if you were going to move it.

Yeah, but I know there is a website with a picture of an early trade show about twenty years prior with some of the earliest CD players sold in Japan, and the brand is OPPO, twenty years before the Chinese...believe it was related to SANYO.
