I mentioned in another thread the JBL HSL610 speakers I put into my shop system in place of the Mission 70 mk II. Well, they had a tweeter in a shallow, square horn, and looked like a Klipsch product. The top end was more mellow than that of the Missions, and they are staying - just more listenable. Back to the main system, I was now aware how "hot" the Vandersteen's were, so after having them for months, I backed off the treble adjustment, boosted the midrange just a bit, and adjusted the toe-in while I was at it. Like the JBL's, the Vandys are now more mellow, more listenable. I would not have expected such a lesson from a shop system.
