Black Gold Lee would you like for the US to go back to the Gold standard? Could make some things a lot cheaper at home. I would love it. Lot of things would happen for sure. LOL

Good question larrt. i think the first thing is to can the Federal Reserve System and get the treasury department involved in the distribution of money again. I think any kind of prescious metal satndard is long gone, the cat has been out of the bag too long. What I would like to see is some form of value that has to be present before the Fed can print more money. The Fed acts way too much in secret, they need their asses audited every 6 months, and a severe housecleaniong if we can't abolish the whole F&^$#@ mess.

If I remember right the Gold Standard may be retuning. Either it is in the process or something is going on. It has been asked for a current audit of how much gold we do have. Not by the dems. Some people are very serious about it. Ron and Rand Paul plus others. A strong dollar would make the price of oil drop. If we can start new wells again. We would have a nice export business. Forget OPEC. No need for them. Since oil is traded exclusively on the dollar. Strong dollar helps more than it hurts since we don't really do alot of manu. Anymore. Could hurt other countries.

I understand the guards who stand sentry around Fort Knox don't even have bullets loaded into their arms. So, it stands to reason there is little gold left at Fort Knox. It might have been a wrong move to have sold all that gold thinking the US dollar would become the world monetary standard. In fact, China and Russia have begun dealing in gold as payment for big deals.
