Yeah, thought I'd start off this new forum with a warning - don't order anything from NewEgg that you hope to receive in good condition!

I ordered a couple of hard drives from them last week. Got it in on Thursday, and to my dismay - the box came in looking like this...

100_2000.JPG[/attachment:1jw9btz8]

Which.. ok... probably UPS doing that crap. But when I opened the box, take a look!

100_2001.JPG[/attachment:1jw9btz8]

Yep, that's both hard drives.. one sitting right on top of the other... nothing other than a bunch of half-ass packing paper with a "pocket" containing both of them.

So.. yeah.. one was DOA. Not surprised as what did they EXPECT to happen when they packed what was essentially two BRICKS, again... right on top of the other.. free to beat the crap out of each other in transit!

Damn bassids... Tiger Direct, next time!

(heh, on a better note... as a result I was able to "wrangle" a 3rd TB drive out of the deal, i.e. get it past me "sig other" without too much to-do... :thumbright: )

I've ordered many many times from the egg and never have had a problem. I have herd some horror stories about TD also. :ugeek:

Chalk it up to some newbie packer. :rabbit:

Hey Jerry,
Take it easy. I have been a NewEgg customer for many years and when ever they aggravated me I let them know about it and they took care of it. Tiger direct is another good place to get stuff. Yes, any company can hire low grade people to work in the packing department and you can see the result. If they lose product by this kind of shipping not only do they have to replace it but they also lose money on the failed item as well. I can tell you there are MUCH worse places than NewEgg such as Aronix who sent me products that had only 1/4" packing from product to box edge and they expected it to be undamaged. I even sent the product back and they still charged me for the item to a large extent- these people are crooks and I am happy to say it whether they like it of not.

Gotta bring this subject back up. Man... whatever happened to either Egghead or (now) Tiger Direct, I just don't know...

Figured it's been about 4 years since a "major" upgrade on the ole main computer, so I ordered a new CPU, Motherboard, and 8G's of RAM. Since my experience with Egghead, I'd figured I'd give TigerDirect a try. All 3 items said "Order today.. ships today".. whoohoo.. So I even put the order in with overnight shipping (was cheap.. and I want something to "do" this weekend).

Looked at it this morning... says "all backordered"... waaaa!!???

So I call them. I figured first I would give them the benefit of a doubt and ask "so, are all three items really backordered or is this some sort of strange glitch?". Yep.. they said.. all are on backorder. Soo.. I said cancel my order. They said ok.. order is cancelled.. .thankyouverymuch..

Now again I look at the order... but now it says "in process"... i.e., sent to the warehouse for fulfillment. I call 'em back and the 2nd rep says the 1st rep noted I wanted to cancel the order, but didn't press the (big, red, magic) button to cancel it. He also contradicted the 1st guy and said yeah.. they do have stock on all 3. Then stated there was nothing he could do because the order was at the warehouse.

Sooo... no idea if it's really going to ship or not... I'll hope for the best, which is I'll get all of it tomorrow... But daggone!! 1st make sure your site reflects inventory accurately... then make sure everyone knows how to tell... Crazy....

Wonder if CompUSA nowadays is any better...

So the saga has ended....

Woke up Friday - still "in progress". I call them, and they say "yep it's still in stock" and they will "email the warehouse to find out what happened".

Checked it an hour later... CANCELLED... arrrrrghhgghh!!!

So they still had a hold on my card, but the last guy I called seemed to actually have his stuff together. He contacted my bank while I was on hold and had them get rid of the charge. Awesome.

But... Friday... and no toys to play with.

But I found a local Mom n Pop instead! I actually ended up getting a SIX core cpu (yowz.. but that is FAST), an ASUS motherboard, and 2 4G DDR3 memory sticks. It was worth the extra money, and one thing I really thought was a nice touch was the guy putting the CPU on the motherboard with the RAM and actually testing it out before selling it to me. That was the personal touch you can't get with TD or Newegg.

Got most of the stuff reinstalled (running Win 7 64 bit now). Yep.. it's a zoomer... it even takes my M-Audio in stride - no buffer underruns when recording. And another bonus - it actually takes less power than my old dual core Pentium.

Time to get into WOW or something crazy like that... heheh

That sounds like a hot computer and nice service to boot. :thumbright:

I was messing around with our video editing computer at work yesterday and discovered it had 20 gb of ram. :cyclops:
