About to bite the big one. The 1000 is tearing tapes up on record. I hate spending the money. Oh well. Fast if I get this right with mine. Send me yours. It may take awhile. I do have a manual. You should see the belt kit. LOL Can't mess it up any more than it is. LOL Well I guess I could. LOL

We have faith in you Larry.... :)

What test tapes are you thinking about getting? I really need to get some myself now that the decks have multiplied. What I have been using is a test tone CD and one of my NAK decks as a reference of sort.

Also contacted Willy about the gage for Naks. I'll use my Daqarta program to do all of my adjustments. It has tone gen. I can set rpms with it. Look it up. Nice set of jeweler screw drivers is Kobalt. It is a zippered kit. Good price. It has a scope.

I can get Marrs belts at a pretty good price. I have bought a lot over the years. I only buy from him. It is worth the added expense to me. If he thinks he goofed he will right it in a flash. He contacts you to tell you. Very good guy. Willy is a good guy also. I want this Nak to work. LOL I can't afford a Dragon. So to my wallet it is the next best thing. For what I paid I got a very promising deck. I told you guys about the other decks he had. He was doing good prices. Oh well.

Larry,

I took a look at the Daqarta program..... Some things are interesting but how do you set rpm's using it? The only way I see is to use it's tone generator to record a tone onto a known good deck. Once that is done, take the tape and play it back in the deck to be serviced and use the scope / freq counter to match the frequency. Is there something I am missing????

I have a digital scope, musical instrument tuners, and a couple test tone CD's which is what I have been using thus far.

If I can find a sound card for the PC in the shop I will look into it a bit more. Thanks for the info....

I have a 3000 hz tape I play using a ADC into the puter then tweak the motor till I get 3000 hz. That is why I'm looking at the other tapes. A cheap converter is a Beheringer.

Yes. They will appear one day. Willy's jig is 199.00. If you get it right you have a very nice deck. Do you have a manual? If not I can copy what I have. Did you get a belt set? Hey this is the closest I'll get to a 1000 for what we paid. I'm pretty sure I can do it. Never know if you never try. LOL

I sell the following:

Professional Azimuth tape 15kHz $90
Consumer Azimuth tape 15kHz $70
Track Alignment tape (yes it is the real thing) $150
Information Terminal M-300 gauge clone $125 (no fancy box and it is stainless steel)

The tape are made to equal or better the Nakamichi factory tapes. Tom Majerus makes the tapes and I QC them 100%.
I also answer tech about the tapes questions. Ask on this thread or PM me.

Larry,
tearing on record but not play? Strange. The 1000 is a tank. Look at each pinch roller carefully. Is there some hair or a goober wrapped around the axle?
Try an open cassette. If the tape is looping, a new capstan belt should take care of the problem. You only need the M300 gauge if the guide heights have been changed.

Hey I'll do a little more research. I don't want to spend a bunch of money for my 2 Naks tapes. Can we do a group buy? I have to check two decks. Those of us who have Naks and feels brave would join in and buy the things. The guy in Italy I have only heard good things. We would need a keeper of the tapes. The tapes will work on other decks if the Freq. is the same. If and when you need it. Just ask the tape keeper and say the magic word. LOL

Hi,
I live in France and I should want to buy your cassette head alignment gauge. Is it available ? What would be its price including postage to France ? Do you accept PayPal payment ?

Do you know if it can be used with a STUDER A710 or REVOX B710 MK II ? I suspect a head height misalignment, because after a complete electrical alignment (including azimuth) with TEAC full track test tapes, all seems OK but cassettes written on a perfect aligned SONY TC-D5 PROII with L = R show several dB differences between L and R. It is the same thing if the cassettes are written on the A710 and read on the TCD-D5 PROII.
Best regards.

Yes, the M-300 is the correct gauge for the A710/B710/B215 transports for tape guide alignment, stroke, and head squareness (Tilt). It's proper use is shown in the Revox service manuals.
