Mission Impossible; Rotary Power Switch

This is my old clunker PL700 which has been annoying neighbours since 1976. I had to rob the power switch for a 700B with a failed switch (on the left) Our friend "oldphaser" supplied me with the microswitch version but warned about the clearance issue with an original 700.

Finally decided to take on this rainy day project. It was a fairly simple matter to cut down the threaded cylinder and the 1/4" shaft, I removed about 0.600" from the threaded cylinder and about 0.500 from the shaft. A new C clip groove was made in the shaft with a drill press and miniature file.

Mission accomplished. I took about 3/16" off the corner of the microswitch mounting plate, clearance for the aluminum partition mounted on the main filter caps
