Hi Gang!

Well, a Mcintosh MC2120 amp made it's way into my system as a loaner and I don't think I want to let it go... It is part of several mcintosh pieces that I was to sell for someone on eBay. I've already listed and sold two power amps and a preamp, all of which were more desireable than this unit (2250 had twice as much power and the 2125 had the sexy meters).

But, this thing sounds a bit warmer than my Yamaha M-50 and I think it's time for a change...

I cannot seem to find pricing history on this in ebay, and audiogon seems to be down. Any ideas what would constitute a fair offer for this unit?

Thanks in advance for whatever advice you can give...

Late 70's solid state. I did some more poking around and they seem to sell in the $400 ballpark (without an added wooden case). Considering the help I gave with selling the other mcintosh stuff and the ebay seller fees we are saving with me buying it myself, I'm going to try to get this for around $250-$300. Any more and I'll either go back to my M-50 or my Sansui AU-D77X.

I gotta say... it sounds really NICE pushing my little Tannoys!!!

Nice! I'm using a very mediocre Onkyo P-3150v preamp for the time being. It sounds a hair better simply using my DJ mixer (very clean sounding Behringer DX1000) but I need the added switching capabilities. Selling my Yamaha C-45 & M-50 to raise the moolah for this McIntosh.

I did some digging on some other forums and found considerable "us" versus "them" attitude out there. Not going to subscribe to any of that drama. But, as a long-time solid state amp user, I can honestly say that this amp really surprised me with its sonic signature. It's easily up there with the best Sansui's.

I'm sitting here listening to a tape recording of the Loose Ends' Zagora album on a Radio Shack metal tape (made by Denon)... It really is astonishing how nice and rich an audio cassette can sound. Puts a smile on my face every day!

:)

Mac gear can occupy an entire section of your living trust or will. Should be able to become a family heirloom.

That warmth you hear is actually a rolled off treble.
Thanks for that explanation... McIntosh sure got the formla right... especially for long-term listening. This amp is real easy on the ears at all volumes.
