Been reading a bit.1st I read that the High output MCs do not require a MC amp you can use a MM amp. 2nd I read That some of the higher priced MMs are equal to their MC brothers. I had the article some where. I get these flashes of memory occasionally. Like heat lightening in the summer. Not real bright but there.

PS Has anyone else read this. I'll find the article.

I've heard this before. Some manufacterers will make the same statement in the general info. There is also a thread at audiogon that's 1000's of posts long. The initial post that launched it is interesting but long.

Was going to make a different thread for carts and remembered this one. All of mine are MM. M97xe with Jico and original stylus. Goldring 2400. Will try the original stylus tomorrow and hear the difference. Have a Stanton I haven't tried yet. Setting up TTs isn't the most fun I have in a day.

The Goldring to me is more detailed than the Shure. After changing it. The Shure sounded darker not as much high detail. Plus I heard things I hadn't heard before. The Jico also gave that impression just not as much. On the Cary system I can hear within a couple of seconds that the stylus is dirty. Not so much on the Shure. Maybe I'll mess around tomorrow and try the Stanton. It is the black and silver with the brush. See what the Stanton can do on the DQ 44. Haven't listened to the Music Hall Electra in awhile. Don't even remember what it sounds like.

May try a MC when all the stuff Graham has is paid for. Will see how much better it sounds than the 2400.
