These are a bit tatty in the cab department, not bad but a bit beyond me. One works perfect, the attenuation controls work as they should, the other has no sound from the tweeter and the supertweeter, both have nasty non original woofers with surrounds on the way out.

They were FREE! John LOVES them, he likes the sound better than our Martin Logans...he's a heathen that will burn in Hell :angryfire: Brawhhahaha!!! Soooo, I guess I'll be restoring these big bad boys :violent1:

As I mentioned in another thread some snot nosed brat pushed the domes on all 4 tweeters in, they still sound very nice....but....

The alloy plates are in nice shape and seem to go for nice money on da bay. Am I crazy for throwing $$'s at these?

You can find the replacement COVERS (they aren't the speaker, there's a diaphragm underneath) online or at a local speaker repair shop.

If the woofers are not otherwise trash and can be rebuilt okay, find the crossover problem or hopefully not tweeters and get both fixed.

Don't argue with your boyfriend's tastes, augment them.

Audio can be crazy but you can't exchange love for an equalizer.

My friend Dj'ed dance in the 80s and nineties and had a quad of HD 660s, welded the coil on one during a dance and I noticed it first...

"Sh!t, Cory, your speaker's on fire!"

He just unplugged it and finished on three speakers.

Don't recall if he was using an Onkyo power amp or a Crown DC-300 that night.

If it kept on going, it was the Crown DC-300

Believe so...he did have an Onkyo pre in there.

What a beast...would probably run an AM station after a massive lightning strike, even if the insulator broke.

Steven, I DJ'd too back then could you tell me more about your bud? I had so much fun having 3,000...ok, maybe 500 folks giving me a standing ovation at the end of a long, long shift, smiles for miles...I would always close with something iconic, like Sam Harris ~'Somewhere of the Rainbow' or Diva Grace Jones ~ 'Slave to the Rhythm' the last notes hit at 2am and the lights came on and my fans bowed :occasion5::toothy7::occasion5: magic and very good times!

He did high school and community college dances, nothing so packed here but he was also a studio photographer and did PR shoots for concerts and bars, met Sawyer Brown and Lisa Loeb, used to do the yearly schedule sheets for business windows and fans of the baseball, softball, volleyball and basketball teams at our little college too. He also used early 3D modeling software and made an ad that ran in the BSU basketball stadium with that. A few other things.

We're still trying to get him down to one woman and get him married at 47...it takes time.

Steve, he sounds like a man after my heart!

I'm not seeing any tweets or super tweets for sale, let alone woofers for these. I'm gonna let Lee look them over and advise!
