Multiple drivers in a line formation, I've heard the big Montana's years ago, very impressive, huge, heavy speaker, they were interesting because, they have the woofers and mid woofers on the top and the bottom of the huge cabinets, with the tweeters in the middle and dual mid-range's above and below those, very effiecent too! Pipedreams also come to mind, with like 30 mids and 40 tweeters in a column.

My big beef with line array's is all the crossovers, all that internal wiring and all the drivers, messes with the sound. I'll toot the horn of 'less is better', in fact, no cones at all, just a thin membrane of plastic to cover 80hz on up is just magic ;) ;) . Big DOH on that from me eh?? :D

Larry,
What do you want to know? I'm buddies with the owner of Pipe Dreams (the company). Pipe Dreams IV tweeter arrays could crossover at 500 Hz (these are puny 1" domes) if someone wanted to do it. A line array is an imaging machine.

I was wondering about the imaging of them. Are they pretty detailed like British speakers? I have gotten pretty use to my Epos. So I was wondering about the sound. 500hz for a tweeter is pretty low. Now since I have modded the Norman Labs they have gotten pretty detailed also. I was just wondering. Been thinking of a living room system and I just haven't decided how to go.

Arkay over at AK, the guy who lives in Hong Kong, was building a huge pair several years ago, I don't know how far he got or what drivers he was using. You might want check on his progress, he has good ears, I'd trust his judgement. Or get in touch with nacdoc's buddy, I'd like to hear some Pipe Dreams!

What does Carly think about big monsters in the Living Room?

Stuwee in answer to your question. I say who cares. I pretty much do as I want. I'm not extravagant in what I do. I think about it and I drop hints about it. Then when I'm ready I do it. It will be a while before I do a living room system.
