Broken beyond repair but highly affable
Dr. Sidney Harman, who co-founded Harman-Kardon with a partner in 1953, bought out Kardon in 1956, purchased many innovative and sometimes floundering companies of note including JBL before selling them to prevent a conflict of interest, to Beatrice in 1976 and then later buying several of these businesses back to found Harman International upon leaving government service to the current core of over a dozen audio companies of legend that also include Studer and DBX Professsional has passed away on April 12, 2011 at the age of 92. He left us due to a bout with acute myeloid leukemia.

With his passing, a generation of pioneers who formed the character of the audio industry we have known for so long has disappeared.

We can all hope there are many, many more like him to guide the generations to come...

I have owned a lot of older H/K. I did love the way they sounded. It is like any thing else when someone buys the name it doesn't mean as much as if it were their own name going on it. In the day H/K was something to have.

Yep, they made some pretty great equipment in the last 50 years. I love my Citation Power amps.
