Well this will require an intro as I really had no idea what I was getting at the time but here goes:

Once Upon a Time in a place far far away there was a man named Lambert.... but I'll get back to that shortly.

One of my wife's best friends for many years (we have traveled with her and her spouse to Europe twice - they're way cool) has painted various outdoor scenes with water colors for a number of years. She took classes at the local Junior College over the last - I don't know how many years - but it's an ass ton. An art group was formed by their instructor and they have been together for quite some time. Some of the students have done very well artistically and they now have an annual event in Ojai to display their paintings and most of these are for sale. They also serve food and wine so it is more palatable for me. I've gone the last several years so a few glasses of wine levels me out. I'll admit that a number of the paintings are really well done and have sold for hundreds of dollars but I tend to be more interested in other things - like food and alcohol.

Well this year my wife wants me to tag along again and I reluctantly say that I'll go since they'll at least have some wine. She informs me that they didn't pull a permit this year and therefore no wine. So I say "have fun at the art thingy". That wasn't the right response and I was corrected in less than a micro second. At the time participating in this was a real fcuking bummer.

Ok - I'm at the barn with our horses drinking beer (I don't give much to the horses- can you imagine a drunk horse?) and my wife (Carol) informs me that it's time to go. Again I say "Ok - have fun and I'll stay here and work the horses." Well - apparently this was not the right response. I think I crossed that fine line so I said: "When do you want to go honey?"

I remembered a beer/wine joint place close to the facility where the artwork is displayed so I'm thinking maybe I can do this. I figured if I could put up with an hour or so of eating snacks and pretending to look at the art work all would be well in short order.

Some more background - my wife volunteers at the Humane Society once a week and has for about two decades. One of the artists volunteered at the Humane Society a couple of years back so my wife knows her from that time period and also from the art thingy. Well - she was married (heterosexual) and divorced some time ago so the volunteer thing helped her get through a troubled time and she met another woman that also went through a divorce (heterosexual) and now they are a couple. Sorry - no schematic for that. Anyways both are really cool and we struck up a conversation and it drifts towards their planned trip to Tanzania this summer (winter in the southern hemisphere). Carol and I traveled to South Africa and Zimbabwe in 2005/06 so it stimulated some conversation (no wine tho...) and we told them of a few things to consider while there - I enjoyed this actually.

Somehow the conversation flows to audio and the girlfriend was involved with high end audio for many years and her vinyl collection might even make Ron envious. She mentions that she has a pair of speakers that retailed for around 5k and needed to get rid of them as the space that the two were living in could not accommodate them. I mentioned that I was looking for speakers and she said that she needed to downsize and offered them to me at no cost. Now I had no fcuking clue as to what they are but she mentioned a few companies that the designer has worked for (a close friend of hers) and several of those I had heard of. The guy that designed them is very much in the business - Garry Lambert - a Kiwi. He had a company named "Lambert Audio" and the speaks I received are the TOL. Go figure. They are sexy - can't wait to hear them but one of the drivers has a surround that needs to be replaced. I'm wondering with the mechanical displacement if a "normal foam surround is in order"?

Shit these speakers are really sexy - not sheep sexy tho...

Here's a NZ site that has some info on the speakers:

Scroll down a bit and look for the pyramid looking speaks - wow.

Damn Nav. Does Carol want to help you pick them up?

Also you're not usually that windy unless you're talking booze, broads and tunes, and you got all 3 in there PLUS some culture, albeit reluctantly....

Good thing you didn't stay at home working the horses, all you would have awoken to the next day was an empty 12 pack of bottles. :rabbit: Great Art Thingy story though. :occasion5:

Damn nav! So did you ever get any wine or just a damn 5k pair of speaks lmfao!!!
We went to the joint down the street and had a taster flight of some beer - most of it was good but one of beers I selected tasted like a fruit drink. I knocked it back though - tossing it would have been alcohol abuse.

A bit more information on the speakers - the ones I have are made by Lambert while he worked at TARA Labs here in the states. They were branded with the TARA Lab's Time and Space logo. Prior to his stint with them he thought the high end cable market was crock - he has since changed his mind as he was able to test and listen to differences between cables. I sure would like to know what sort of cable tests are performed.

Anyways here is the link:

I've known some sexy girls in my day too, but sexy from a distance does not a skilled lover make....

Agreed - but the thought / anticipation can be good. The end result sometimes may not meet the expectations. The speakers on the other hand are sexy from a different perspective.

Did ya make a sammich??
No - they came that way. I'll have to pull the driver to see what it is but these have a longer throw compared to most speakers. It compensates for a smaller diameter. Longer throw makes up for a smaller pole - or so I'm told. :glasses8:
