To heck with his senseof humor.....He is the cassette fixing God...After the gets the Yammie humming along and back to me working like a charm, You can give him all the heck in the world, but until I get a working K-1000....I'll be his defender...

Sutton bid on the Silver one. I'm not going to build yours out of one with an intermittent problem. So I am going to use mine that needs a tire and just change out the transport.

Didn't have fun today. Got the deck back together and heads won't engage. Now I will have to retire another transport. So I guess them throwing this transport around did something to it.

To answer your question Larry, I did win the silver K-1000, but it has the same exact problem as the black one sent to you had. It will work for a second, then disengage. Must need a new tire as well.

I also won a K-1020 which worked (kind of) for a while after coming in from the cold car. Now it won't work either. Ordered the belt kit, and the service manual, os looks like I'll attempt deck diving. I hope I can get the thing apart and then the belts on and put back together.

Is the tire something I can change out on the K-1000? I'm afraid to ship any tape decks now. FedEx has really screwed me and you over...

The door on the silver K-1000 doesn't want to open either. What is up with the K-1000. The Yamaha gods don't want me to have one that works..

Well, after replacing both belts, the Yamaha K-1020 will play, but will not FF or REW, os after Larry telling me what I was looking for, I located the tire, and with my glasses on it is obvious that the tire is dry rotted. It has cracking all over it, os I am guessing that is my problem. I am going to order tires for both the K-1020 and the K-1000 and I think..........if I can sucessfully change them..........I might be in business. They both act the same way. The function (FF or REW....and PLAY in the case of the K-1000) when depress will try to work for about a second, and then the function clicks and will disengage..

Think that is the problem....but we shall see. I hope I can get thes decks working before I wear the screws out...

Thanks to Larry and everyone else who has offered advice...

Well Sutton says he can get clips. I have lost 3. LOL Built up a tire and put it some where I wouldn't lose it. The mind is a terrible thing to waste. I can't find it. LOL I have another ready to rebuild. Just need clips. The clip is a PIA. It is so small.
