Interesting Akai R2R, Larry. You also mentioned in another thread you have bid on a Tandberg deck. Which model would it be?

In general, Larry, you seem to like the looks and features of that vintage of cassette deck. The Nakamichi 1000 is, also, a big deck. If Robert (Fast Forward) still has his Akai, and I have enough cash collected by early next year, I would love to own his deck.

I have had a few Akai and Teac monsters come through this garage. No metal is fine by me I do no metal or very little.

Here is a blurry pic of just the belts. LOL

I doubt Geri and I have that many belts hanging up in our clothes closet. I'm more intrigued by this deck, now.

And one of the best mix tape recordings I've heard so far, has been on a Sony Metal XR-90 recorded with a Nakamichi CR-7, by a friend in the UK. I'm looking forward to recording onto the Sony Metal XR 60 tapes I bought from John.

For the difference in price I can't see the difference. For me to buy metal. I like the way certain Type IIs. Denon I think I can beat a metal with their 8s. That is just me.

They make ever BETTER reel to reel decks!

I would've sent mine if I hadn't sold it to a friend in a Yahoogroup 2 years ago.

If you mean Akai makes better decks than these then I agree. If you mean the M-8 is a great deck then I'd disagree.
