Yep, so I got the speaks today. They're a pair of CV D-9's with refoams recently done on the big nasty 15 woofers.

Cabs in pretty good shape, and I hefted these beasties all the way up the stairs by myself (well.. put 'em on their sides and pushed 'em up on the carpeted steps heheh)

Even with the Nak AV1 rated at just 100, these guys live up to their reputation. I had to actually turn 'em down due to PAIN. I pity the neighbors when Lee gets the PL from hell to me... it's going to be downright brutal.

Yep, the SDA's have to go. We gotum gut busters now. And yeaaah.. they do sound good.

Jerry: you have the ingredients mixing together to create the perfect storm. I predict your wife gives you a mini ultimatum: "It's either me or your stereo", the neighbors phone 911 on your behalf as you stagger out on the street claiming "the end is near" which you actually meant to say "I can't hear", and the block party prematurely ends when there's a sudden blackout caused directly by the explosion of your power pole transformer after goosing the volume on your stereo.

Heheh... Ney Nando, neeey! My wife is pretty tolerant, as is I. As long as they go out to the store now and then and give me a few hours of Jam Time, the equilibrium stays balanced.

As far as the neighbors... hmm... I think the neighborhood here too is pretty tolerant. Heck, I have a Mexican family up the way who likes to play some sorta Fiesta Music really loud... It makes me laugh.. makes me wanna string a pinata up and get a bat. Plus they have two roosters who cockadoodledoo at all hours. Seems nobody complains..

I do have a 1500VA UPS too... hehe.. wonder how long it would power the PL tho...

You are set on all counts, Jerry. Sometimes, when I lean on the volume a bit, I step outside and walk around the house to listen how loud it may sound from outside. I think my neighbors like what I play anyways, because even if it is loud I don't bother to turn it down. I've lived in my neighborhood longer than them. I have diplomatic immunity.

I play mine as loud as I want. Usually she isn't home. She only has complained once when she couldn't hear the TV while I cranked the PL. I have had mine so load you couldn't understand the words. They were bouncing off of everything. Then it clipped. That was the Creek.

I'm sitting here thinking. I must be a snob or something. I'm glad you like them Jerry; but I just don't get it. Now a pair of Polks from that time I could see. I'm not trying to rain on your parade at all. Loud is good sometimes for me. Around 100 DBs and I'm jamming. I have my Norman Labs for sentimental reasons. There are other speakers I want and I'm already discussing them. I didn't buy my PL for the power. I bought it because of Bob Carver. I wanted a made in USA rack. I like Carver so I decided to have a Carver rack. To loud id just to loud and I won't start on a 15 inch woofer. This is all me. Just my thinking.
