Just curious - How do y'all listen to your music...

Whole album?

Side?

Cuts?

I'm about 60% whole album, 35% side and 5% single (usually because I just want to hear 1 cut and the rest of the album is crap or playing for someone else for demonstration).

When I listen to an album usually its the entire album both sides. I seldom listen to a single song on an album.

whole album, but I do rock singles when I am rolling through the 45's & 78's! But I must admit I usually only play the A side.

I must have attention deficit disorder. I listen to the whole album maybe 1/100th of 1 percent of the time. an whole side 1/10th of 1 percent of the time and singles about 99.99% of the time. I see no point in listening to the shitty songs in between the goods ones just becuase some record company wanted to water down the hits for a particular artist to strectch them out over multiple albums.

I simply rip the songs I like to the digtal doman and occasionally record to tape or just play straight from the digital as building playlists has endless possibilities.

I rarely will listen to more then two songs from the same artist in a row.

I'm strictly compact disc for any serious listening.

Except for any new stuff (that requires my attention), I will normally just program a selection of favoured tracks.

This is how I see my experience evolving. One day I'll have everything ripped and just listen to custom playlists.

All kidding aside, I listen lots of ways;

I view tapes as "recorded" or preserved playlists of songs, marking time and mood and I generally pop in a tape when I can be focused on listening all the way through.

Also like the unpredictable flow of using shuffle on digital sources plus an occasion playlist there too.

Tapes and digital are my deal 90% of the time.

When I play vinyl, which isn't enough - unless it's albums committed to tape - I usually binge out and make a listening session of it, with the selections dictated by mood.

Can't say that I've ever really listen just to "cuts"...

When I play a tape, I always run it beginning to end - same with vinyl; no music search or mid-LP need drops respectively.
