Is this for zeroing and do they need to remain in place? Mine are missing on a couple meters (I'm talking the Black screw in the middle of the meter).

There should be a zeroing slot, not a screw. Check the WOPL archives, there's some info in there...

Maybe the black thing is just a plug. Some of mine had just a piece of tape over the hole, some have what looks like a screw. I'll look closer tonight.

If the plug is slotted check by turning first....ya never know with PL....
