What all does it do and how?

It raises the tonearm at the end of the record on fully manual turntables. When the tonearm contacts the trigger the tonearm lifter raises the tonearm, it is completely adjustable as far as trigger force and the rate that it raises the arm so it doesn't throw it to hard.
