Yes, the pinch roller looks great, also the idler tyre looks more than ok, the heads are not quite visible but those ferrite can't be so bad, IMHO.

Thanks VantageShadow,It does look good to me.The seller is asking for $599,which is steep but this one looks in good shape.

You know, without being able to play the deck first-hand, all bets are off. Unless, there was verification through recent playback and recording test results by a qualified technician, it's too difficult to make that step up to that kind of cash. It's a lot different when you pick up an inexpensive deck from a friend, or discount store and expect not much, than to pay $500+ for a cassette deck and not get much.

I agree with you Nando. You ARE the voice of reason. Unfortunately I get carried away with my desire to have a CTF-1250.

As Nando says: be careful. The main problem with this model is the motor and heads wear. Full restoration of the 1250 are expensive. If the seller says "fully restored" be sure that the motor refurbish was perform. Many times fully restored for them just means changing belts and that's far from full restoration. These decks are wonderful and the sound is very good but they are way over 30 years old and, as many other decks, are in need of work. Better pay less and fix it. IMHO.

You are absolutely correct. I have passed on this deck for the vague advertising of its upgrading. Thanks for the advice.
