Hi Hugh
Where in So Cal. We are a pretty diversified group here as you will soon see. Jump in the water is fine. A little shark infested at times.

Thanks Craig,

It's the Pure Black 101 preamp from Melody.

Hi Larry,

I'm in Rancho Cucamonga which is about 50 miles East of LA.

I just spent a few minutes browsing through some threads and see that there's quite a few interests in Onix products.

FYI, I was carrying Onix until last year when I decided to concentrate solely on Melody as well as manufacturing our own speaker line(s). :)

The main chips for the CD-2, 3, and 5. One of the CD-2's does not upsample in the 24k bit range, when switched I get white noise. All the 2's, 3's, and 5's are running hot on the +5 volt regulator also.

The only cdps we did carry were the 10, 15, & XCD-50 so I'm afraid I'm of no help to you. :(

Sorry.

Furthermore, since those were discontinued a while back, I don't even think Shanling has parts for them.

Yes they are indeed.

So you moved from Riverside to Arizona?

By the way, is it ok for me to add a link to my website under my signature?

Thanks,

Well Hugh, I believe in Onix, discontinued or not, and I haven't even got the CD-3 yet :D , it's in my sig for a reason.

I'm intrigued by that preamp, there's a pretty postive review online, and this cool video of one on a turntable like those 50's car shows  they should have put a fabulous Barbie in a fun frock with that pre

Craig,

Don't get me wrong, I'm still using Onix Reference XCD-50 cdp in my 2nd system as well as at various shows. As far as I'm concerned, the only other unit (that I can afford financially) is the Lector CDP-7TL in my Reference setup. :)

Yes, if you search 6moons for P16888, you'll see they gave it a pretty nice review.
The new PB101 is even much better.

Thanks,

You notice we aren't your run of the mill audio forum. We have fun; but we like to learn also.
