Is the guy in front banging on an Akai or a small cash register?

From my recollection it may be an Akai MPC-4000, which has a quirky history but spanned several years of production and was a large player in it's niche.

It could also be he was ordering a meal at a McDonald's or other fast food place as machines resenbling it were popular within the last 10-15 years.

That's all I know.

The cash register in question is an AKAI MPC-60 MK 2. It's 12 bit and uses floppy disks. Two of them are being played live. The MPC 60 and the MPC 3000 were designed by Roger Linn and bear little resemblance to their weak progeny (not designed by roger linn): 2000, 3000, 1000, 4000, 2500, 500. For the record, I was ordering a double sufi salad with some mixed greens.

Also, thanks again for the awesome job on the tapes. :faroah:
