I was leery about opening a Stuwee thread titled "Found under the bed" but all is well that ends well, except for stuwee's BIC deck. Cool old deck and I have heard they are a bitch to work on.

I have no use for the poor thing, it's a really nice sounding rig, even tho it's the bottom of the line two-head, it weighs twice as much as that Denon. I just don't have the heart to pitch it out. So I'll hang on to it in case one of our future members needs a nice parts deck.

Hi stuwee,

I have a Tascam 133 multi-imaging deck which is inoperative. At no charge a technician looked at it, and said the particular part needing replacement is unavailable. This deck had been stored many years in a storage room before I found it. Too bad it doesn't play a tape. I might drop it off at Innovative Audio for organ donation.

Hi Guys,
I come across a lot of decks that are in terrible condition. If you have one that is in good cosmetic condition and you don't want it I am sure one of the better Technicians on this forum and I think there has to be at least 6 or more, these guy will want to take a look at it before you toss it out. I bet in some spare time, not all of us have that, it could be doctored into a nice working deck. As to the Tascam 133 if you want it fixed, you need to send it to a Teac repairman and get the real word on why it does not work. I have some here for parts- what is suppose to be wrong with the unit?
As PS says in another post about decks- I think it was a Pioneer CTF950 with front panel damage, many people give up on these machine too early. PCB's can be fixed and epoxied together to be like new- NO, don't glue the tact switches in place either- they may need to be changed at some time. I see so many deck parts like motors ruined by people diving in where they are not experienced or careful. On top of that, in talking to the person who runs reelprosoundguys the other day, Teac is sending people capstan motors from Tascam 34's that have the wrong servo board for X1000R decks at the cheap price of $150. I don't think they even tell the person it won't work or give documentation. That is why dealing with a Technician is going to be in your best interest. The guy who I taked to at reelprosoundguys was impressive in his knowledge and honesty and I would not have any reason to not expect superior service from their organization. Be aware though that like people of ebay, they are selling recovered/used parts. This might be a good thing if you can't find it anywhere else. I am still looking for a Tascam 42B reel table.

I have a Nakamichi 500 dual-tracer, drive seems to move but meters pretty much peg full-time regardless. $3 find, wondered can it be saved?
