Like most vintage amplifiers, this one has a story. I picked this up out of a long closed night club in the middle of nowhere, east of Clover, SC, 7 or so years ago. It worked when I bought it but I'm selling it for parts now. When I got it home and opened it up, it literally had a layer of nicotine coating the inside. I took the face plate off and positioned it over the sink where I proceeded to hose it down with Windex and a very soft paint brush.
The inside looks great now but the last time I hooked it up, it produced sound . . . and a little bit of smoke. No bueno! BTW, the RCA jacks have been replaced with 1/4" phono plugs. Standard pro-audio hookup gear. I have adapters I'll include but I'm sure a new owner will replace those input jacks regardless.
This amp did play well when I purchased it. My cleaning process is likely where the issue came from.
I tried Gepetto's trick of hooking a 3.9K resistor to a 1.5V battery to test the meters and they do move but they're a bit sluggish. They will advance to the -4db mark occasionally. It's almost like there's something slowing them down. (Another layer of nicotine?) Naturally the bulbs are burned out.
The good news is that cosmetically it's in pretty good shape. I'd guess it found a home in that night club and never got moved around. It also has the back covers over the transistors.
