Hi Stuwee,
I have found this effect by accident way back in my 20's now 54. This was done when a
present audio track was recorded and the same audio source- no CD's at this time, they had not yet been invented, was played back and the speed of the recording deck was varied just slightly causing this phase sweeping effect to take place. As the speed would catch up and go beyond the second source the sweep would happen again. Now days the same thing can be done with DSP and computers I think but 30 years ago that would be a major undertaking. Most studio people know of this effect and also can be called phasing as you are playing around with timing of two different signals.
