This is another one of those really hard questions,
so it's best not to think about it too much and just
throw out the first ones that come to mind...

Jon Anderson

Alison Krauss

Second that on Alison Krauss, she has the voice of an angel. Karen Carpenter, Gwen Stefani and Pink. I have some favorites on the male side but they are not close to the female singers.

These are in my opinion some iconic singers of all sorts...in no way, shape or form a complete list...

Sinatra
George Strait
Hank Williams Sr.
Ray Price
Willie Nelson
Johnny Cash
Elvis
Dwight Yoakam
Brad Delp (Boston)
Barry Manilow
Hurricane Smith
Gilbert O'Sullivan
Roger Daltry
Andy Williams
The Everly Brothers
Johnny Rivers
Donald Fagen (Steely Dan)
Charlie Daniels
Marvin Gaye
Frankie Valli
John Denver
Roger Whittaker
Conway Twitty
Richie Havens

BTW Herb Alpert has a great voice...

Madonna
Always Mama Cass
Barbra Streisand
Tammy Wynette
Crystal Gayle
Melanie
Cher
Bette Midler
Barbara Mandrell
Pat Benatar
Karen Carpenter
Andrea True
Nicollette Larson
Emmylou Harris
Linda Ronstadt
Joni Mitchell
Aretha Franklin
Teena Marie
Helen Reddy
Olivia Newton John
Helen Forrest (big band vocalist)
Janis Ian

Then there are groups that have so many talented vocalists it's not funny...

Fleeetwood Mac
The Temptations
The Beatles
Chicago
The Beach Boys
Styx
Jeffesron Airplane/...Starship (Slick/Balin...Mickey Thomas even)

Speaking of Steely Dan, that was a TONNE of excellent vocal talent, just the backup vocalists alone!

I love Stevie Nicks as well Nav and thought of her but did not put her on my list. She does not have a great voice but what she has, she uses pretty well.
