Hi all,

My oldest son, Matthew, who is 29 years old, had a bad mountain bike accident on Wednesday, August 8th. Either Geri and I have been at the Vancouver General Hospital, to ensure a family member was with him on a daily basis, since he was admitted to the Neuro Sciences ICU, that fateful day.

His mountain bike forks collapsed on impact after jumping a dirt track tabletop. He hit the ground with his head when his bike broke. His injuries could have been much more severe, despite not wearing a helmet. It was one of those times where he and his friend had been just biking in the back yard, but soon found themselves at the dirt track, a few kms. away. Started off innocently, but ended badly. Usually, when Matthew spends a day out on the bike trails, he does suit up with body armour and full-face helmet, but not that day.

He may be released from the hospital by the end of this week, and he will have a long recovery ahead before he can return to his job.

For those members who have been patiently waiting for a response from me on the forum, I just wanted all to know that I haven't had much time, or even the mind-set, to post much on the forum these past two weeks.

Take care,

Nando.

It is good to hear that he is stable and should make a full recovery.

Accidents are accidents, if we got to plan them we would plan around them and not have them, equipment does fail even with the most stringent maintenance.

Here is hoping for a full and speedy recovery.

I'm kind of at a loss for words right now, other than it sounds like a tough road to recover from and I hope the best for all of you.

Thank you all for your prayers and kind words of support. While in the hospital, yesterday, with Matt, I logged onto the PAC forum on his laptop to show him the responses he has received, and he is humbled and joyed to read of your well wishes. This goes a long way in helping him recover. He has an operation in mid week to sutcher the tear in the lining surrounding his brain.

Nando.

Had a Conversation with my Son a while back about the constant amount of Love, Worry, and Fear that all parents live with 24-7 and how most Parents would switch places with their Kids ,Grandkids and gladly give whatever they have just so their Children would not have to endure the problems that comes with living on this Rock,,FF
