I've dabbled in a few discs from this Aussie label - Room40.

There's quite a bit of *experimental* and avant-garde stuff you can grab for free in MP3 or FLAC.

Here are two I pulled off their site just yesterday:

Austin Bucket - Sand Stems [raw and might be disturbing to some with a sensitive cortex...]

Chris Herbert - Wintex-Cimex 83 [relaxing ambient...]

Broken beyond repair but highly affable

I guess so, but I'm listening to Paul Revere and the Raiders and Sam Cooke on the local AM.

If ya like that drone stuff on that label, the newest Lawrence English: Wilderness of Mirrors is really good, as is John Chantler's Even Clean Hands Damage The Work, although neither of those are in the free section. I actually listen to a fair amount of this sort of thing. Did ya see they have a compilation in the freebie section as well? Room40's 10 is a bit of an overview of the artists on there, 40 tracks and covers a lot of ground.

Didn't notice that compilation but I'm glad you did ... thanks man ! I bought a bunch of used Room40 CD's many months ago and I am slowly developing a taste for the experimental. I pop them up on the "what are you listening to" thread from time to time.

Once you catch that bug, that kinda music can get addictive. I'm pretty tied up right now, but I can make a mix for ya of that kinda stuff if you'd want in a couple weeks or so when I get some extra time, reel or cassette, your pick.

I'm up for a cassette when you get the time. We can make a swap out of it too.

Sounds good, think I've got your address. Will send something in the not too distant future.
Cool. I can turn you on to the Nando-plex Prog-Rock tape I ginned up for our Elite-ist friend a while back or whatever else that might pique your interest - on the rebound.

Just let me know what genres of music you'd like some exposure too that are uncharted territory man.
