Eq Connection Confusion

Looking to optimize my connection of my eq into my system. Years ago I had the SG-9500 connected between the pre-out and main-in of my SA-9800. Now I read that was wrong, should've been connected to a tape loop. It seems that the answer could best be answered if I could find what the max output of the preamp is and the max input of the EQ is. All I can find is the output range of the SG-9500 (1 to 6 volts). Anybody know by chance?

In general, the tape loop is the place to put an EQ.

It MAY work fine between pre and power amp, but they are generally not designed that way. Pro audio works similarly using an insert from the board, so only desired tracks use the EQ, but same idea.

Greetings Oldskoolfan.

That's some nice equipment you have there!

My sg-50 was connected between pre-amp/main-amp, or sometimes in a tape loop, and once set, no adjustments needed.

The pre-amp output should be able to drive the eq input, and the eq output should be able to drive the main-amp input.

Can't see how an impedance mismatch could occur with fixed inputs and outputs..

However;

With pre-out, eq-in connections, the eq could be over driven, if that much gain is needed to drive the main amp.

My 2cents worth.
