HAd a new local friend hip me to an estate sale that happened yesterday. I was not able to go but he picked me up a sweet little Dynaco ST35 stereo power amp that needs a bit of work.

Here it is. A factory wired Dynaco ST35

When we pulled the cage here is what we found

After talking with a few folks I may just pull the iron off these and build an amp with the DIYtube ST35 board.

Well, the iron is coming off this little fellow. It will get a nice clean up and maybe a new board to replace the broken one then into a box and in the closet it goes.

The DIYTube ST35 board is on it's way and a chassis is bein laid out. Have a feeling this is gonna be the best EL84 amp in the house.

Stuwee, get your money out as the 232 may be for sale soon ;)

That's a good friend to have. I've done business with him and was always pleased. A good guy and always helpful.

The ST-35 chassis, cage and boards are gone along with the extra set of replacement boards I had.

The OPT's and PT are on my DYITubes ST-35 clone amp. A very sweet amp indeed.

You can see the build thread for the DIYTube ST-35 clone here:

I'm listening to a really nice sounding ST-70 in The Building right now. I've blown two McIntosh MC-2125 amplifiers in the last few months, and put this old tube amp in the mix. I had it repaired by Terry DeWick in Knoxville, TN a few years ago. It needed a new multi stage cap which had gone out of spec, but that was it...Terry wouldn't touch anything else in the amp. As he said, it sounds so good why do you want to do anything with it. Leave it alone...My thoughts of upgrading the board went "poof". He was right.

Terry is not one for replace more than need unless specifically asked to. He worked on two pieces of SS Mac gear for me in the past and I was more than pleased both times.

If you ever want to do an excellent, reversible mod just pull the iron and build a DIYTubes ST35 clone. Sweet sounding amps. You can always bolt the iron back on the original ST35 and resolder the leads and have it original very quickly if you chose to :thumbleft:
