DIY Dummy Load on the cheap

I must wonder how hot such a device would really get when powered with a typical audio amp. It's rated at 3500 watts, after all.

It uses (dissipates) 3500 watts of power at 240V when immersed in a tank of water. It shuts off when the water reaches the temperature setting of the tank. When used as a load resistor there is nothing to limit how hot it will get in free air.

like most heating elements, it's resistance rises as it gets hot, if it gets too hot, it will fail, if you use it in a bucket of water, the heat rise should not be very much, since they are cheap, you could always test this theory
in a water heater, the thermostat turns off the heating elements, not the elements themselves
