One of the weird things about living longer than some of your peers, and those peers having had my help putting together a system IS....when they die, i often get the system back. This has happened 3 times..Dave being the latest. Dave worked for us in the shop as a machinist, general mechanic. He was 65 when he died. Colon perforated and he waited too long to get to the hospital...
Now that's a jolly intro. So, Daves daughter calls and wonders if I want the tunebox back. I had procured and fixed a PL3300, a 700B, a 9500 Eq, a Teac deck, and an Opp0o BD 103. D9's and Klipsch RF-5's for speaks. So we set up a meet at Daves house west of town, she opens the door and says there it is ...you can have it........she's 26 but no idiot, sharp kid really, and I said Kayleigh, I cant just take this stuff, it has value, beyond what your dad put on it. She has no idea what to ask, I told her it could get from 1000- to 3000 depending. She says give me the 1K and I'll be happy.
Got some folks around town that have retired from the mines and are now looking to build some systems. Randy has been an instigator of immense proportions.....so I put the 3300 on the AP and ran a Freq Res sweep.....

Hi Lee,
Sorry to hear about your friend Dave. You and I are the same age, and this past year I have lost 3 close friends. I guess we are "that age" when something as simple as changing a light bulb in the garage, on a ladder can turn into the last thing we do (had one friend who that just happened to, he fell and hit his head, he was also 65 like Dave). We have a close group of fantastic people here and I know each of you guys mean the world to me. We get those "wierd" pains we didn't have yesterday, and it is easy to argue with ourselves, "Should I go into emergency or just ride it out"? ..........sometimes it's too late.
It's hard for me to come to grips with this aging thing. Thanks for sharing Daves story and knowing that his equipment, that you built will enrich someone else's life.

This is a phase of life that completely caught me off guard.

Currently dealing with similar circumstances, although not involving audio equipment unfortunately, with my wife’s side of the family.

My father in law is now living with us…

That's what almost got Pat last year. Sorry to hear it. Wishing his family the best.
