Didn't CV make at one time a model with 18 inch woofers?? I seem to recall that my sister's ex husband had some CV's and they were bigger than the D9's, and I think she confirmed it when she stopped by last week. What model was that??
a guy i knew in the Air Force around 1980 had a pair of short but stout CV's (looked like end tables) he got at the BX overseas. they sounded quite good and were a very capable speaker and i'm pretty sure the woofers were 15". i dont recall the model and i've never seen or heard of any other CV speaker that resembled them.
I was at Innovative Audio, yesterday, for a short time and there were a pair of CVs there with sloped-baffle 18" bass drivers and horns. They look to be pro gear. I didn't have my camera on the trip, however.
No Lee, these ones are the HED U-351's. Not sure what i'd end up doing with them, but for 30 dollars they were on my mind all that night. Went back the next day and they were still there. My truck was in winter storage, so I had to use my moms car to pick them up. They wouldnt fit in the trunk, so one went in the back seat and the other, went in the front with the seat layed all the way down. Ha could hardly see over it on the drive home. Fortunately im only a few blocks from the value village they were purchased at.
They're still sitting in the garage atm, they need surrounds, which is pretty clear in the pic, and im sure the crossovers need some work. A late summer/fall project maybe.
I have a pair of the CV-150's that I use to test amps that I rebuild. These can take a real beating, they can take a Phase 400 with no problems but a PLWO 1000 will take out the speaker fuses in a heartbeat. Tough and good sounding speaker.
