Cory's "Museum Quality Phase Linear 700 Ser I

Came in for the conversion. One channel not working. Normally I wouldn't troubleshoot and fix a PL 0171 board before conversion, but I haven't documented a 700 Ser I's performance, we have a "B" but not a Series I.

Doug, I was messin with it the other day and never got it set.

This is about the 4th amplifier I've done by Dart..

Had a triangle wave on the left, good right channel. No bias voltage on the left. Rep[laced one shorted output on the negative rail, shorted driver on the positive rail. Replaced Q10, Q7, Q8, Q6 and D8. Offset dialed right in at 360.


Listening to it right now. Will put it on the AP and wring it out when we are done listening to it.

The rack handles will be on it when it leaves Cory. Nice thing about them is the fold away feature, don't have to dis mount them anymore.

I finally got the 700 Beast hooked up. I have this hooked up to a Phase Linear Series 2 2000 pre that Lee also restored for me, Calfornia Audio Labs DX 1, currently using Energy Connoisseur Series C-5 speakers (these were made in Canada and are better than the newer Energy stuff, I think klipsch owns them now but I could be wrong).

It sounds really good I think. Very clean, I can hear things in a song I have never heard before. Very Clear and detailed sound through the highs to the low bass notes.

Thank You Lee for helping me have such a great sounding stereo.
