It's always nice when they think you have nothing better to do after work but mingle with your co-workers.

Have fun.

I got you beat...

There's been meetings going on for the past 2 weeks or so with an offshore company debating on whether or not to outsource all us IT geeks... (yeah, don't get me started... I might not stop... ). Supposedly I'm "safe", but once you let the first "cockroach" in the door... you know how that goes...

:whax:

ps.. I was reaaally trying to figure out what this had to do with turntables - honest! :angel4:

I,guess I,m lucky in a way that I can,t be replaced by a Computer,,and because a lot of my job is maintaining good customer relations,,,,still I,m only as good as last months performance,,and nowadays watching the bottom line is just as important as making sure the Bacon doesn,t burn

Neither can I, but I suppose I can be with 3 people overseas (needed to be the equivalent) whose salaries combined are still half of mine. But hey.... aside from TREASON, the ones making the money hand over fist call it "competing in the global economy". Yep, even if my company is perfectly profitable and will continue to be, no doubt (hint... if you're not getting your bacon you speak of from Sysco, you may be paying my paycheck...).

I told ya not to get me started, lol. :thumbright:

Guys I can sympathise, and i can feel for ya, but can not understand in your terms, cause I have no idea what happens on your end of things, uncertainty is never a good thing. Until they can make a robot that can run a hammer wrench I'm safe.

Screw the computers, and phones, etc.....just don"t get pirated.

READ THIS,,,,last week I spend 3 F------ days in meetings designed to streamline,,update,,and generally a lot of BS about what my company is doing to make my life better,,,so this morning I go to unlock my safe with my number code and the safe doesn't open ,,,the battery which is inside the safe is dead,,now of course there is a manual lock to open the safe ,,,but after a 1/2 dozen managers the key is long gone,,,so I call my Dist Mgr inform him of the problem take all the money I have in my pocket ,about 48.00 and open the restaurant,,,my DM shows up with a hand full of keys but of course none fit,,,so he says he,ll contact one of the Info tech guys this is at 8:am this morning,,we get thru the day with me running to the bank to change large bill into small so I can make change,, any way by 4:00 pm this afternoon not one dumb SOB from the home office has solved the problem,,that an idiot like me could have solved with one phone call to a licensed lock smith FF

FF for company president!!

Next time one of the higher up, monkey, brown noser's gives you a lame excuse, quote Red Forman "You know what would better? My foot in your ass!"

I have corporate meetings all the time. I talk to myself. LOL Really never worked in an industry that could be really farmed out. I worked for companies that we were the labor that was farmed out to this country. So it was just the opposite. Had a job offer in Brazil once. I asked if they would fly my tool box there. They told me all I needed was a pen. I would be signing off their work with my license. I said no way. So I am in the same boat as Lee. I have been laid offed, transferred to stations that were closing; but they could never farm out my job if they wanted the plane to be based in the US.
