Pretty clean unit, inside and out. Had it hooked up on the test set after Sutton's 3300 Ser II went in the box and sounded GOOD. It's gonna get better though.

This is where it gets fun. You have to de-solder the speaker selector switch to get to the 4 caps and 2 trannies underneath one side of it.

Why do I feel like I'm talkin to myself???

Again I'm amazed.

You just had the chest of this beast cracked open - then performed a recap and I'm assuming changed out some of the transistors - then fired it up. Not only is it working right after surgery but you're getting some great numbers out of this.

Thanks for all the great photos - it is exciting stuff. We're watching - just not posting as we're in awe .

Take heart, Lee, I have been following your thread on Chris' Spec 1 restoration. Without looking it up, are some of the graphs you posted after the restoration in line with the factory specs?

Nando.

Yes they are Nando, and in most cases--BETTER!! Did you follow the Spec 2 thread Nando?? I did some thoings to this one I did not do to mine. What a difference, indistinguishible from a 700 till the 2 runs out at 343 watts. And it may have a slight edge till then, this Spec 2 sounds REAL GOOD. I have the same planned for yours.

Thanks Dennis. Those numbers are off a bit. Had some cable issues and was getting some distortion through my analog scope probes, fixin to repost.

Published distortion spec is .03% from 20-20K. My test is 10-80K and it still beat it by half.

Replaced every electro cap, every transistor and spent a lot of time on switches and pots.

THD & N left channel, Aux 1 input

Kudos to Jani - that front panel looks new!

Again I'm impressed - I know it doesn't take much to muck it up.

Amen Dave, it doesn't. I wrap em in soft cotton rags during their "Unmounted " time. Finally got the meter lights in the mail, so I am completly done with both. Burn in the caps for 100 hours and both pieces will be headed to Ft Dodge Iowa.

AND--------A CLEAN BENCH!!!!!!!!!!!!
