I maybe be wrong. CDPs will only read as high as the CD was wrote. If I remember right they or should I say most are wrote or pressed at 48. Also read something the other day. Most CDs are pressed just like an LP. They are not burned. That is why some older CDPs won't read a burned CD. I could be wrong in my reading. If I am let me know.

Jer will have to explain this one but even if it's only recorded at 24 or 44 it can be upsampled at a higher rate and sound better.

You are correct Larry, most store bought Cd's have the foil layer pits pressed onto them instead of heating the foil to deform it into pits. :thumbright:
