Carver Amazing Loudspeakers

Recently was introduced to the chance of a lifetime.
I can get a quad match of Carvers Amazing Loudspeakers for 1800.00..woofers need refoaming which is a snap for me since I do my Infinity RS4.5's every ten years. Does anyone own these black laquered speakers?
Want to hear some opinions before i dive into these...
Comparsions, so I like to get some listeners opinions..

No own nor have heard. Can you audition them? 1800 for 4? I would like to take a listen.

in good condition the going rate for 2 pair is in the neighborhood of $2000, but a firm price is hard to peg due to their scarcity. with woofers needing work i would try to get closer to $1500, but if you want them bad enough dont bother dickering.

i've never heard a pair, but i know of a few folks who have owned them and can compare them directly to speakers i've owned. based on those reviews i would not hesitate! by all accounts a marvelous speaker of very high caliber.

Did you get them? I am anxious for a report. If Bob Carver says they are good, they must be good...He usually shoots pretty straight....

Hehe, dude you are in for a Major treat, not many around, you need some serious amplification, very serious, then sit back and light a cigar raise your brandy sniffter in the air, and tell us all to just 'Deal with it!!!!', very jealous here, love that sound from a panel that sucks half the life outta an amp, makes it soooo much sweeter.

Do some research, those ribbons are not cheap, and times 4 need to have an equal output, or you may be upset with the sound.
