I saw them live in '77 in St. Louis, what an awesome experience (what I remember anyway) we had front row upper balcony seats, half way back stage right, Huge clouds of smoke coming up from the floor seats
I remember John Bonham having 4 arms and four legs
I have 'How the West Was Won' it's one of my fav Live CDs and there's 3 of them!!! I'll have to put it on right now!!! Nice call Larry
I'm throughly enjoying this set today, first time I've played it on the Onix, man it sounds great, lot's of little details coming thru, the distortion is more distorted
They were the best rock band of all time. Period.
Yep, How the West Was Won is the best live Zepplin CD, The Song Remains the Same was mixed and recorded so poorly that it is hard on the ears to listen to.
I have some increadibly poorly recorded bootlegs on Lp, but there's a couple gems in there, at a concert in Japan Robert does the first verse of 'Smoke gets in your Eyes' as only he could sing it, and some British dude is walking the aisle saying 'keep it down! Far too noisy! Far too noisy!" in the background
Tony, what is this Brazilian pressing? I haven't heard about that one, Presence was always one of my favs, but the SQ on mine really sucks pretty bad compared the earlier albums, some are the 1st pressing Atlantic's, and a killer Houses of the Holy from a radio station with SAMPS in the deadwax
Presence is usually right behind In Through the Out Door as least liked Zeppelin records, I think it's brilliant, Robert was still recovering from the car crash in Greece, and had a lot of pent up energy (he recorded most of it on a stool, his legs were still healing from the multiple fractures). And Bonham was trying some new grooves, on ITTOD, Bonham started to really get funky, if only he'd lived longer...
