Yeah Ron I know.. over a year, but as ya know the last year for me has been.. well... "interesting" to say the least.

Nuff talk.. here she is... Ron had recommended me to a guy over there at AK who had this Pio SA having issues. Basically a buzzing in both channels, probably worse.

She's on the table, getting ready to open er up... :blob8:

I never realized what a brute that thing is! Glad it's finally going to live again. Thanks Jer and hope things are better for you now. BTW, Kelly IS a member here also

As for me don't even want to talk about it. Just found out half our furniture was destroyed by water. We could not afford another pod and had it all under tarps on the back deck. Been raining on and off for about a week and I can't fight mother nature

Yup... get 'er all apart and powered up, then discovered my 'scope has bought the farm. Won't trace .. hangs up.. all that jazz (grrrr).

Well, figured I can try out one of those newfangled PC USB scope versions. Got one coming in this week, so we're "awaiting test equipment" on this puppy. Issue is the amp will start going in and out of protection after a "warm up". Intermittent issues are the worse damn kind.... gotta catch 'em while they are acting up!

(gearin' up for Kev's "experiment" now LOL... )

hey everyone! 1st post here. thats my amp jerry is working on there, the back story on it is i purchased it off the bay from a chicago area stereo shop and it gets an intermittent buzzing out of both channels. after sending it back and having the tech assure me that it was in working condition were back to square one. i called the tech after the second time around and he assured me they had it running and playing in the shop for a week without any issues. this is when i went off on the guy over the phone, i said maybe it played fine for you playing elevator music at low levels, but i crank out classic rock and blues and figured this amp could do the job. so i ended up keeping it and sent it to jerry to have a peak under the hood. i have since replaced that amp with a sa-7500 ll to keep my pioneer silver face rack going.

Get the service manual on hifiengine...and it is looking similar to a Yamaha CA-series integrated of that period in there, which would not surprise me one bit.

Hmmmm... so the DC offset on this guy was terrrrrible!!! About 100mV on the left and 125mV on the right. Got 'em both down to a mV now, and hmmm.. if this was all it was, then I gotta wonder LOL.

Doing more testing.. so far so good. Had 'em both up to 85 watts or so and she didn't blink. We will seee!!:hello1:
