After a 15 year layoff from the game, I recently started shooting pool again. Even joined a league team...

Anyone else here play pool? :)

Happy New Year!

Used to have a table. Played all the time. Hours every day. Havent played much since we got rid of the table years ago. Still enjoy playing when I do play though. Used to spare for a team as well. Have considered getting back into it a few times, but never had enough people for a team. Dont have my nice Cue's anymore either.

In the 80s, I played a lot to help pay bills LOL. I practiacally lived at the Golden Ce between Schnectady and Albany. Have not played in at least 25 years now though except for the very infrequent bar table

I used to play quite often in the 3 years before graduating HS and heading to boot camp. Where I used to shoot, everyone knew each other and we all just played pool to have fun and pass the time. Then in the Nav, well, I lost a lot of interest because the environment changed so much, and not for the better - too many arrogant bassids who would play just to "win" and no other social graces offered. Of course it didn't help when I had my cue case stolen (won in a tourney a few years earlier), then once I found it on the thief all of his "buddies" said it was his...:smokin:

I'll still shoot now and then, but hmmm... can't quite get my skills back up to where they used to be.

Haven't shot in awhile. Money or beer still went home drunk. Friends were for fun. Trying crazy stuff. Always fun. Got mad once. My bad 200.00 game scratched on the eight. Bought a bar cue. Do you call all shots? Soft rails or fast. No sissy stick?

Used to shoot fairly often, not so much anymore. Was always stuck in the middle. Good enough to beat the chumps for free beers all night, but not really good enough to go against the money guys. Still like to grab a stick and a few beers from time to time, but don't find myself in places with a table too often.

Never owned a cue. Heavy bar cue to break. Light and straight to shoot. Can't remember last time I used a bridge. Can't play slop just goes against everything I like about the game. Was thinking about a table in the sound room. Bar table would go good in there.

Right on... cool to see there are some pool players around these parts.

I play 8-ball in an organized league once a week and whenever I can get away to shoot a few racks.

It started for me back in the mid-80's when I was in the Air Force as a great way to pass time in the Rec Center. Every year we had an annual straight pool tournament (aka 14.1) in which the top two finishers would get to go to a regional tournament at a larger base. In three years I went from a complete noob to being able to run the odd rack of nine-ball and finishing in the top two in my base straight pool championship a couple of times. My high run back then was 47, nowadays I'm lucky to run a single rack.

What sucks most about playing pool these days is the cigarette smoke and the constant barrage of hip-hop and cheezy-tweaky pop music that one has to endure in the pool halls around here. But it's still a fun night out.

Don't play much anymore, never was good at it and if you watch you usually have to avoid getting bonk in the hind end or getting an instant high voice.

That corner is tiny.

Then again the singers at karaoke are always encouraging dancing during dart games, to which I reply, "Only if you apply my booster shot"!
