I never have, I used to have what was sold as an anti-static mat, I didn't think it did much, I went back to my cork mat.

The one on the cartridge adds 1 gram but you counter balance it so it does not add to the tracking force. The other is a seperate tone arm with no cartridge it has a carbon brush and a pad to collect what is brushed up. It is similar to a Watts Dust bug, I prefer the AT ones to a Dust Bug.

As far as force from the tonearm brush on the platter it is insignificant, it also has a counter balance so you can adjust the downward force.

On some models they have wire that can be hooked to a ground to work as an anti-static device.

The NAGAOKA ones are plastic and break pretty easily, and are way to much money. The clip on ones for clipping on a headshell I would stay away from unless the cartridge was designed for it like Pickering and Stantons were.

The brush on a Pickering and/or Stanton does add mass but counterbalanced it isn't wieght. In some studies the bruch has been atributed to better tracking ability than without the brush.

The Shure has a brush also. They use it to stabilize the tonearm for better tracking. Like a shock absorber.
