Is there a way to boost my wifi signal to the garage? Is there like a repeater I can get? Also Jerry is my laptop tying. The screen keeps going off and on and it is taking it longer to come back on and it is doing it more.

Thanks
Larry

Sounds like you may need a new "inverter" for the screen. Just a fancy word for those ballast things you used to have to change out with flourescent light bulbs.

Far as the wifi goes... Yeah you could get a repeater... or just upgrade to "N" which carries a greater range and speed.

Probably so you can put in either an ide or sata drive.

But if it is connected to the computer witha USB 2.0 cable then it doesn't matter speed wise which drive you use. :cyclops:

Then that would be an e-sata port. If you have an e-sata card for your computer then you can use a cable to that port and the drive will be just as fast as if it were inside of your computer. The speed difference between the sata connection and the usb connection is about 6x, meaning the sata interface is capable of transferring data 6 times faster than the USB 2.0 interface. e-sata is short for external sata.

USB 3.0 Kind of made e-sata ports disappear as it is capable of theoretical data transfers 10 times faster than USB 2.0.

Yup... what web said.

Ya threw me off the scent when you said PS2... that's a connection for a keyboard or mouse. eSata would be as fast as if the drive was in your 'puter. A few motherboards will have that eSata connection. But if you wanted, I think you can get a eSata to Sata cable and plug it right into your MB.. just route it back out the back somewhere and hook up the drive. Powered down, of course.

Yeah what Jerry said. If you have a desktop computer You can get a 48 inch sata cable and plug it into your mobo and route it through one of the expansion slots and then into your esata connector. That way the drive is as fast as the ones in your computer. Now of course this makes the drive less mobile or if you need to connect to another computer you can use the usb cable, but your probably talking laptop so you probably cannot connect it to your lappie sata connectors.

So is that what is wrong with my Dell Inspiron I1000? All I could see was the Windows logo on bootup, so I use a CRT monitor.

That sounds a lil different. When an inverter starts going out, the screen literally goes "blank" but if you shine a light on it and look at the right angle, you'll still make out parts of the display.

Sounds like you might have either a conflicting default resolution/refresh rate (tried booting in vga only mode?) or windows got confused on what monitor is what (happens with multiple monitors connected.. )

If you still have a CRT monitor you have attach it and get it set up. That is how I've been doing it with mine.

OK the time is getting near. What all do I have to have to transfer the tapes to the HD. Can I just hook the deck up to the input side of the Behringer and put the music onto my computer then burn it on to the HD. Using a wav. file? Jerry will the program you told me about do that?
