(Since announcements are for mods and other categories are way down there and this is important, I'm here...sorry for that but thanks).

It appears that my father may be in his last days, or hours.

If you expected me to find something or were waiting for an answer to a question, tomorrow might not be the time to do that.

Today I will do what I can, because right now he's in hospice and my brother is here from Minnesota as well so all is that important.

I have to leave in the morning.

I have to feel strongly for my grandmother as she will have lost her two youngest boys, her husband and her second husband and she's 93 years old.

But I'll make it through awhile. I had just hoped his recent state at Thanksgiving dinner was temporary.

Don't we all.

So that's the story. Thank you for reading it.

Geri and I are very sorry to hear of your dad's deteriorating condition, Steven. We hope that your family members will remain strong and your dad will have his family around when it counts the most.

Nando.

Steve i have held the hand of my Mother and my Mother-in-law as they took their last breath and the spirit left. There is nothing to describe it, it is profound nontheless. Jani's and my prayers are with you and yours.

Sorry to hear the news. This is a tough thing to go through but it's good to see that you have other family as it's even tougher to go through alone. I pray that God brings love and peace to you.

Pa was awake for a good deal of the time but he's on some heavy painkillers and stuff. His hospice nurse stopped in for a while and checked on him.

Dad is Dad...when I gave him a kiss and hug goodbye he still said I love you too in a quiet and rough voice. My grandmother (Mom's mother) and her brother (uncle) stopped in as I was waiting for my ride to go back.

My uncle asked me to get her walker and I teased her about not caring to date yet seeing a Walker...

He's gonna go eventually, it's pretty bad for him and we have tried to keep him home all he could take. Mom and my brother were telling me he wanted to be cremated and that he would be interred at a veteran's cemetary in Boise at no cost. Dad is always thinking of Mom's needs, he has from the day he met her.

Mom had wanted to keep me at a motel but I figured the best I could do for him was make this place into something and myself in the bargain. I can't make him well, this is his end and he told me everything he needed to. I was afraid he would go without awakening and I told him everything I needed to as well.

Will I ever see him again? No, I don't think so. Will I feel his spirit? Until I too pass away. It's way too soon but there is never enough time.

Many friends and loved ones have died in my 45 years. My mother is losing her best friend. My schoolmates went through this 10-15 years ago as they were not the first born and my parents were young (she was 20, he was 23) so I'm among the last to experience it.

Thank you for all your sympathy and best wishes...it means more than you could know.

Steven

I was concerned when Dad had been asleep in his chair since 8:30 the last night but he did wake up for the hospice nurse. He was quiet and weak and I've never heard him sound like that-not ever.

Still he responded slowly for the nurse, sometimes not saying anything but trying to nod...

They wanted to put me up in a motel and I knew I would just be nerves. There was not much I could do and certainly nothing to reverse his state. He has been taking painkillers like morphine and methadone to combat the narcotics. When Linda died the last week Darvoset and Percoset were like wafer candies. She quit smoking cold turkey the last month, meaningless but for her proud accomplishment. So I sent as much time as would he might be able to handle or something and I kissed and hugged hime carefully.

I love you, Dad I told him.

He told me he loved me too, used my name, without hesistation though in a low and rough tone.

I know I'll never see him again, he will be cremated but we had the conversation of a lifetime.

I'm crying. I know the eternal truth though. Thank you Dad.

I haven't gotten that call yet. I figured the best I could do so finish my home and make my life work. I know he must realize something like that.

And the cremation? If they place him at the veteran's cemetary the service will be free. He has thought of us every day since he met mom. Even in the end of life he gives everything. I'm proud of my father.

Being a father and a son Steve, to have your son proud of you is one of those rarely talked about good things. It does warm my heart when I've done something that I do because of who and what I am, and it makes the youngins proud. And he is proud of you Steven.

Steven: Geri and I send our condolences to you and your family members. Your dad chose the time of his passing, and he was much better at peace knowing his family was there for him during those last days on earth. His memories and soul will continue on.

Nando.
