AKAI GX-255 RTR

Hi Guys,

Anyone have any comments on an AKAI GX-255 reel to reel deck? Looks to have glass heads, 7 inch reels...

Robert, go for the big brother that takes 10" reels and plays/records at faster speeds, if you're gonna mess with reels go big son!!!!

Robert I have an Akai GX. I do like it. The heads will never wear out. I also have a Pioneer that has never played a full tape I recorded on it. I have put a lot of mileage on my Akai.

Hi,

Didn't buy this, well not yet anyway, so no pics Lee.

I thought it would be nice to have a deck with glass heads and this one looked rather cool even without those large reels.....

Missed a mint Pioneer 707 this weekend due to the icy highways. $40 for the deck and a huge collection of tapes. Bummer

the gx-255 is a nice deck. it will last a very long time if well kept.
