I looked for a section; but couldn't find it. LOL
How many of you run the stock power cords? How many use Power Conditioners? Not surge protectors. How many think they make a difference?

Hmm I don't use a power conditioner and don't have any fancy power cords except the one I got with a Tube amp a few months back. I don't use anything special for IC's and or speaker wires.

My thoughts are if you spend hundreds of dollars on IC's , power cords and speaker wires, of course you will think you hear a difference. Whether it is there or not I don't know. I have to believe the benefits versus cost graph would tell me don't even think about it. If the thought that you have more $ invested in your connectors than in your gear gives you warm fuzzy feelings then go for it.

I guess I could get a power conditioner and wire burn in device, a water filter for every faucet, and wear an oxygen enhancer over my nose and mouth 24/7. :flower:

Back on subject. I have proven to a few people wires do make a difference. When I got into this game back in the 80s conditioners were just coming out. It is just logical if you can keep a component working at the voltage and cycles it was suppose to then it will be more effective. I also proved to a few people that ICs make a difference. Ask Elroy and Dingus. Dingus didn't buy them; but said they made a difference in his system. Speaker cables. I my self was running an 800.00 pair of cable to my Epo 16s. I hooked up my by wires and got more bass out of them the sound much fuller now. I have done blind test with cables to prove to people that they make a difference. I'm not saying spend more than your system on cables. I'm just saying why spend a bunch of money on nice components and use zip cord. I try to get the very most out of all my components. So I look not for voodoo ; but results. I am very frugal on the money I spend; but I want the most out of my system I can get.
Thanks

I am not against people spending money on IC's or speaker wires, if they hear a difference then by all means use the ones that sound the best.

I am happy with my the way my components and the IC's and speaker cables sound so I have no reason to experiment and spend more than a decent quality cable or IC will cost. I don't use the dirt cheap IC's or speaker cables, but I am happy with $10 to $20 IC's and $25 to $50 for speaker wires suits my ears just fine. I myself notice most of the difference in my listening tends to be with the source material and or speakers.

Again the enjoyment is in the ears of the listener so if you like what you hear and can afford it go for it. If I have extra money burning a hole in my pocket I will invest it in speakers or a better amp.

Ok let me give an example. I like my creek and epos set up. But when I changed wires the bass came to life. I could have spent 2000.00 for a new amp or speakers; but I spent 400.00 for speaker wires and got a fuller sound. So what I suggest is find an audio store that will let you try different IC or speaker cables. If they change the sound then you haven't bought a new amp or speakers. If they don't then you aren't out any money. Just a suggestion. Yes I will let people try what I have in stock. They just have to pay the shipping. I'm like you I like the most bang for the buck. I don't do to many things on a whim. I'm not rich and I like keeping my money.

I mostly listen to my system as background music and very seldom critically listen as a result my quest for better audio gear ended about 10 or 15 years ago. I am not saying that a cable might not make a tiny difference, but at this point I like the sound of my gear and I am happy with what I have.
