Jerry sent me a tape of Kraftwerk Live on a TDK SA-X60 recorded on his Nak, from a Raphsody download through his M card and the Audio Alchemy DAC.

I love this tape!! I played it for Dale on his system and he was like "Meh! Where's the dynamics??" "He recorded the levels to low and it sounds compressed, what computer card was he running?"

Well I was agast  , both you guys have great ears, so Dale says wait, I'll try something. He cued up a fresh Maxell UD 35-90 on the Teac X-3 RtR and patched his Kenwood KX-1060 cassette into it. Boosted the levels on the Teac to a bit over 0db, then rerecorded it back on the Kennie on a Maxell XLII (man in the chair) with the levels matched (well kind of, the Kennie tends to boost the right channel +2db's). And it did increase the dynamics. Or maybe I was hearing the nice analog sound coming thru stronger with the tape 2 tape transfers?? Confusing, I'll have to experiment more with this.
