Hey, when this Dell turns on it says there's WiFi in my range, and while it's on the little green WiFi symbol next to the power button is lit up. Does this mean I can unplug it and use it around the area? Do the batteries automatically recharge when it's plugged in at home?

The Dell does have wireless capability, so if you have a wireless access point in the house then you can go wireless with it. Ya got one? Can you check with Dale?

Or outside you can connect to public access points as well. I believe I have the firewall turned on, so you should be still safe.

Yep, when you plug it back up the battery will recharge... not a prob!

Awesome news Jer :thumbleft: I can't thank you enough for this great present, it's really helped me, and saved alot of time in my search of employment. I'll check with Dale when he gets home on the WiFi router/modem thingie.

For being out and about with it, do I need one of those plug-ins for those jacks by the disc drive drawer? Seems like I saw that on TV, kinda like the antenna router for the home wifi.

Not at all. The wireless is inside the laptop. You don't see it, but your screen actually doubles as the antenna. Just know what wireless network you're hooking into... never connect to networks without the owner's permission. (unless yer dyin and you have to send that last message.. :cyclops:)

The network your lappie is detecting could be one of your neighbors too, or it could just as well be some guy named Guido driving around in the neighborhood in a black van looking for credit card info. :cyclops:
