You are assuming Luxman had heat control engineers. From my experience, if they did he worked part time. This is the same type layout as the Yamaha C-4 preamp. Has a few issues due to heat but nothing like the charred boards I have seen in Luxman gear.

I did some work on a friend’s 9090DB and it sure did sound nice for a receiver. I have a Pioneer SX-5580 so know the improved looks of these Black/Silver receivers. For what a 990DB will sell for vs having one, tough decision to make even if it doesn't do main rig duty.
