    WOPL a Carver C-500 Amp.

Everyone, sorry about missing time here. I let work get in the way. Lol. Tonight, I was able to mount my control board and wire up. Applied power and set bias for both channels... Looks good. Have to mount RCA inputs and wire to board. Then see if we have music. Don't know what I'm going to do...

    WOPL a Carver C-500 Amp.

While I was learning every one's age, I was still working on my amp. Tonight, I was able to apply power. At about 85 volts input, DC relay clicked on. No smell, sparks, blown fuses, etc. Guess I'm on the right track. Tomorrow night, I'll install the control board and take voltage measurements...

    WOPL a Carver C-500 Amp.

More work completed tonight. Bridge mounted and wired in. Bypass capacitor soldered in across power capacitors. View of full comp left channel. (Right channel the same.) DC relay installed. Also note fuses located on right side above DC relay, for input to the new control board not mounted yet...

    WOPL a Carver C-500 Amp.

Everything fits because your using Joe's set of capacitors. His set measures 1.75 in diameter and mine are 2.0 in diameter. Let me put a capacitor kit on order with Joe. Thats why I relocated to another spot the bridge. Everyone, thanks you for the guidance!! Gary

    WOPL a Carver C-500 Amp.

Joe, Yes, they were located on the side wall. The old capacitors were glued to the wall and were 1.75" diameter. Carvers old bridge was 25 amp and small. New caps are 2" in diameter, I used a larger 50-amp bridge and I replaced the glue with capacitors clamps. All this used up space on the side...

Gibsonian, Thanks for the subjection on bridge relocation. Joe is this better? You have any other ideas? If this looks good to all, I'm going to continual only after I hear something back - good or bad.?

    WOPL a Carver C-500 Amp.

Why do I feel I'm in trouble? The Carver transformer does not have the Phase Linear cradle for the capacitors to rest on. The original capacitors were somewhat glued to the side wall. Also, carver was using a 25amp bridge. When I replaced the capacitors and added capacitor mount brackets...

    WOPL a Carver C-500 Amp.

little more done for today from different positions. I hope to mount the transformer this weekend and apply power to the back wall and take measurements for all to see. Sure, a lot easier to work on without the transformer mounted. How's it look so far?

    WOPL a Carver C-500 Amp.

Don, I'm sure I will not be able to explain the parallel capacitors to your satisfaction. Your skill and knowledge are way above me. Remember, I'm just your everyday electronics hobbyists. I'm trying to follow a semantics plan. I do something and then display it here for all to say yes or no...

    WOPL a Carver C-500 Amp.

Does this look any better? (250v 1.5uf 5% film capacitors) It definitely much easier working with Joe's Back plane boards.

    WOPL a Carver C-500 Amp.

You sir are 100% correct. I did rail to output not rail to ground. I will correct this, this evening before I do anything else. Thank you. When you say to add 2 1.5UF metal capacitor, do you mean from rail to ground also? Both capacitors wired in parallel?

    WOPL a Carver C-500 Amp.

The criteria I use was from Joes instructions to "test for no shorts to the chassis." You are right, I don't have all the tools you do. I'm just a hobbyist enjoining my amp. More pictures showing my progress.

All the transistors are mounted in the back panel in a new TO-3 socket. Each one was tested to ground before proceeding to the next.
